London Photography Tour (Instructional)

Every Friday and Saturday at 9.30am you can join the London Photography Tour, which is a 4 hour instructional walking tour led by a professional photographer. We’ll cover the essentials of photography and how to use the settings on YOUR camera, helping you take the best photos of the most well known sights in London and we’ll give you some of the history as well.

If you are looking for an instructional session, have a look at the Workshop pages in the Menu above. If you prefer a non-instructional tour, then check out the various Tour pages.

Please note, Hairy Goat is closing from 19th Dec to 5th January and no tours or tuition will be held in this time.

Photo Competition

We’re in London again for this week’s photo. This very grand entry is to a building open to the public and is along the Thames River and that’s all I’m saying! The closing date of this competition is Sunday 26th February.

The correct entrants will have their names placed in a hat (yep!) and one entry will be drawn by a client while on a Hairy Goat tour each week. The winning entry will receive a London Photography Mystery Tour (Night) for one person.

Last week’s winner was Caroline Diaz. Thanks to all the entrants. The initials were VR (Victoria Regina) and are on many of the Pillar Boxes (Mail boxes) around the UK.

The tour must be taken within 3 months of winning. If you live overseas or won’t be in London within this time I will supply either Hairy Goat t’shirt’s or a 12″ x 16 “photo (unmounted) from the Gallery instead and post it first class via Royal Mail.
You must have a fully manual camera to participate in the night photography tour, but if you don’t then the £70 value can be used against another product.
The prize cannot be exchanged or refunded for cash.

Have a look at the tour photos previous clients have posted on our Flickr group. Past and new clients are welcome to join (rules apply).

You must be a current or past client and there is a limit of 3 photos per week. On the request email, could you please tell me your name too, as I won’t always recognise photos or ID’s.

The photos must have been taken while on a Hairy Goat tour or workshop. To encourage variety, the photos must be different to others on display.

New Photoshop CS5 Course added

So, you have a digital camera and you don’t use RAW because you don’t know what to do with the images. In our new 1 day
Adobe Photoshop for Photographers workshop we’ll teach you the basics so that you understand and are confident and using RAW.

New Website Still Under Construction

The Hairy Goat website has just changed over to a more accessible format which is easily read on mobiles and portable devices. What you see is the first draft and it will be an ongoing process over the next few weeks to get it to the completed version. Transport

I keep reading in the papers how the Transport System will struggle during the Olympics and London commuters are being asked to consider alternative transport or working from another location during the Olympics.. Please don’t do that. We small businesses need your support as the tourists aren’t in the non-tourist areas or buying the items you would normally purchase in a working week. Small businesses with a mainly UK clientele (like mine) were all hit in a bad way when an 11 day holiday over Easter / Royal Wedding was taken by half of the UK and they left the country. In these financially difficult times the last thing we can afford is more public holidays and strikes (don’t get me started on the transport!!). And summer holidays are coming so there’ll be even less “local” cash turning over soon. So, if you are planning on avoiding the crowds, please do us all a favour and add to the crowds instead. We small businesses really need you here! Oh, and could someone in the hotel trade start a trend and not overcharge on room rates during the Olympics so that visitors don’t choose to stay out of London and travel in every day because it’s cheaper??
